Hey, it's the moon again. The last time I took a picture of the moon, the dang earth got in the way. here's another with a bit of contrasty enhancement. Taken 7-1-10 (at approximately 12:45AM. Meade 10" LX200ACF w/ Meade .63 focal reducer. Orion StarShoot Pro V2, single .001 second exposure.

Here's a hyperstar image of the moon during the lunar eclipse. I didn't intend to image the event at all much less with hyperstar. I was imaging M51 with the orion skyglow filter when the event began. I was swept up in the moment and trained the 14" LX200 on the moon and snapped this image. It is a .001 second image with the Orion StarShoot Pro V2 with hyperstar. The Orion Skyglow imaging filter is in the imaging train as well. The moon was just about kissing the SW treeline when the image was taken at approximately 5:45AM on 6-26-10

I know I promised before not to post the same image twice...well, I am bending my own rule to post an updated image, the Cat's Paw Nebula. This is the same image as I posted before but has been re-processed in MaxIm DL Essentials and post processed in Photoshop CS4 - the first time I've used photoshop to process an Astro Image. I included 7 more frames from the original set for a total of 55 light frames-40 seconds each and reduced the flat frames to 10.

Here's my Hyperstar Image of the Lagoon, M8. I now see why others get such a deep crimson red when they image this. My 40 second hyperstar subs are the equivalent of 14 minute subs or so at F10, so you capture much more data, in this case Ha I believe. Anyway, this was also imaged on 6-20-10 right after I imaged the Cat's Paw. Meade 14" LX200GPS w/hyperstar, Orion Starshoot Pro V2, 50-40 second subs, 50 dark frames and 50 flats.

For a few months now, I've been cursing my Orion Starshoot Pro V2 because I couldn't seem to get rid of all the artifacts and hot pixels out of my images I took with it. It turns out that it was MY problem all along with not understanding how to process images in the Orion stock program called Maxim DL Essentials. So I actually read the manual last night...NOW I can process in Maxim DL Essentials - funny how that works. There has been a lot of "M" in the image pages lately. Thought I would shake it up a bit with a "NGC". Here's NGC6334 AKA the Cat's Paw Nebula. Imaged with my Meade 14" LX200GPS w/hyperstar (F2, FL/700mm) on 6-20-10 (2:50 AM). Attached to the hyperstar was the Orion Starshoot Pro V2. 48-40 second light subs, 50 dark subs and 50 flat frames. Processed in Maxim DL Essentials. I believe I have collimated the hyperstar enough to start getting some good images out of it.
